Famous for their perch for more then 60 years this Muskegon landmark is still providing a great meal in a relaxing atmoshere. You may come by boat, on foot, on bike and by car. We visited this fall and found the beer to be ice cold and the service was casual and friendly. From our table we were provided with a waterfront view of the Bear Lake Channel with a rustic interior with of course the necessary flat screen panels with ESPN on. The menu covers the taste spectrum from vegetarian to carnivore. The Bear Lake Tavern has a few signature entrees that we recommend.

The Bear Lake Tavern specialties…

Perfectly poured Black and Tanblt-black-and-tan.jpg

Appetizer- The Boom Boom Shrimp all the way.

Lake Perch- This is what made the BLT Famous!! The perch were nice size and had a great breading. A touch greasier than I rememeber from prior visits but was great tasting and they wer gone before I knew it. I could eat a pound of these perch!! (Maybe a takeout idea for them like the Doo Drop Inn Muskegon did for so many years. )

The BLT Burger is one serious burger weighing in at 3/4 lb!! It is a grilled, seasoned burger on a plate garnished with tomato, lettuce, and onion for your choosing. For lighter fare consider the scaled down version this goliath……..the Jr. BLT . This in itself was almost to much!! There was also a newly concocted shot advertised on the menu board titled the “Duck Shot”. I decided to hold off on ordering one of these but maybe will go down that road on my next visit.

The Bear Lake Tavern was a good experience overall.

The menu matched the atmosphere
